Karl Blossfeldt
Hammershoi
Great Russell Street, Bloomsbury, London
One of my favorite painters lived briefly in 1905 on Great Russell Street near the British Museum in London, this is the view from his window that he painted. Not a great deals changed, apart from the fact that if he lived there today Vilhelm would have easy access to a Boris Bike, if he wanted to.
Chapi Chapo 31 - La Gymnastique
A Colour Box (1935)
Directed by Len Lye (GPO Film Unit)
Experimental animation from New Zealand; this is just free form, abstract animation set to rousing Cuban music. Lye here experiments with painting directly onto celluloid, with interesting results.
